North Rim Country Hiking Tour |
(May to early October)
We are still finalizing the details of this exceptional hiking adventure in the North Rim country. We hope to have it posted soon, but feel free to contact us about what we already have worked up. This week's tour promises to be one of the most popular seasonal tours of its kind and we can guarantee you an adventure that you will never forget. The North Rim of the Grand Canyon offers, what some claim, the best views of this awesome chasm. Zion Canyon, which is just a couple of hours away is like seeing the canyon from the bottom up to the rim, for that is where travelers enter to see Zion's stunning fortress of rocks. Bryce Canyon is the fantasy like setting of the region, whose pink-colored rocks look more surreal than real. There is so much to see and do in the North Rim country that one of the main difficulties planning a tour here is just what to see and where to go. But we figured that out and you will agree with us the best is waiting for you to come and see.
So, if you are looking for a road and hiking tour that features some of the West's most splendid and rugged scenery, folks this is it. All the meals come with the tour as well as accommodations, ground support, transportation, and all entry fees. The tour is hosted by knowledgeable, friendly guides. The geology, natural, and people history comes with the tour, including some of the fascinating Mormon history, who settled into this country as the region's second citizens (next to the Native Americans).
Here is part of what we have in store for you in this upcoming adventure.
Day 1:
We will meet the group in Phoenix and drive north, to Flagstaff
(about two hours), where we will spend the first night. Over dinner we will
discuss the details of the tour. Our meet and greet gatherings are designed
to bond the group and make our guests feel comfortable, not only among themselves,
but with us and all that we have to offer on our tours.
Day 2:
We depart for the North Rim country via Lees Ferry and The Vermilion
Cliffs, which is the gateway to the North Rim coming in from the east. There
will also be a stop along the way at the famous Cameron Indian Trading Post,
which is said to be the best place anywhere around for Native American artwork
and crafts. We plan on getting to the North Rim well before dark, so there
will time to see the canyon well before the sun sets over her sculpted features.
We have another fine meal waiting for you, and of course the North Rim can guarantee
you a restive night's sleep. That is, if you're not like so many others who
want to linger outside awhile and watch a billion stars overhead. Bear in mind
the North Rim is between 8,000 and nearly 9,000 feet above sea level and it
does get chilly even during the warm months. But it never gets hot at this altitude.
Oh, and there's lots of wildlife to see if you time it just right. We usually
do.
Day 3:
We will remain in the park and do some sightseeing and split the party into
different groups for hiking. There are some easy and some moderate hiking trails
we want to share with you, but it all depends on the individual's hiking prowess.
We'll spend the night in this region before heading out to Zion, but first we
have a really neat place to show you here at the North Rim side of the great
Grand Canyon ... the Toroweap Overlook!
(To be continued, so stay tuned, folks.)
