Western Arizona City Slicker Tour

(6-day; all-inclusive; limited season; 6 months to a year advanced reservations usually required)

Yee-haw and howdy partner! Here's a one shot deal for those of you who are quick on the draw. It's simple. We're putting together the best round-up of city slicker types and we're only running this adventure tour one time for 10 lucky people.

Ridin' ... ropin' ... brandin' ... and sittin' around a campfire listening to, or telling, tall tales. A real cowboy adventure Out West where the coyotes are sure to sing you to sleep and maybe there'll be a hoot owl for a chorus.

Mike and Karen LandisThis adventure tour (*) is for ADULTS and YOUNG ADULTS ONLY and is put on by Arizona's two finest cowboys, Mike and Karen Landis (and don't you dare call her no cow girl, because she'll light into you if she hears you saying it). They own and run a cowboy Tent and Breakfast facility located near Peach Springs on historic Rt. 66, where we sometimes put up our guests who are looking for a place to sleep under the stars rather than under a roof. Occasionally, we hire them to put on the best Western-style barbecues for a few of our other tours that come out to the Grand Canyon West country. But this time they're hosting the tour entirely, which will be held out at their other bigger ranch, which is closer to Kingman. Mike's not exactly the character "Curly" played in the original "City Slickers" movie; but he'll ride herd on ya until you learn what it's like to be a cowboy, even if you are urbanized. But seriously, you'll never meet two finer people anywhere on this planet ... they are that charming and hospitable. They are also real and there's none of that dime store cowboy myth with these folks.

Mike LandisThe tour comes with all your meals and nonalcoholic beverages, camping gear, utensils, and your horse and tack - you bring your own riding boots, hat and a change of clothes or two. Oh, and a poncho, just in case. Of course, you get to camp out and all that cowboy stuff, and you'll have to make do as far as getting washed up. But they do have bathroom facilities (and a bunk house) if you really have to do things your way. And yes, you'll be working for the tour you're punching cows on and paying a decent price to do it. Here's one vacation we guarantee you'll never get bored at, because there's plenty to do and plenty to see.

If you think this is something you're looking for, the cost is just $1,075.00 (which includes all the taxes). That's a 6 day, 5 night Out West ridin' ropin' brandin' and (if you want to) singin' on the open range adventure tour. And hey - we'll even throw in a professional cowboy singer and poet, just to keep you in proper pitch and in good humor.

Remember: We're only running this tour once or twice a season, because the Landis' have got more irons in the fire than spokes on a wagon wheel. But they've agreed to let us work in one busy week of their lives, to show you how the real cowboys do things. What's more is that they're only inviting 10 lucky folks to come out and try a whole other lifestyle on for size, so ten it is.

cowboysAre you ready to ride the range or sit home and watch an ole Western flick rerun? The country out here is real pretty and the days are long and the dust is common. So are our outrageous sunsets that are soon followed by an equally outrageous star-studded sky. If you want to put on your boots and spurs and see what it's like to be a real cowboy for a change, then sign up for this one of a kind City Slicker tour and get set for the cowboying adventure of your life!

Happy trails, dude, and we hope to see you out here ridin' on our range. But don't delay, because we have a feeling this tour is going to sell out quicker than Mike can rope and throw a calf down on the ground and do what those cowboys do. (Better the cows then me, I can tell ya.) When you graduate from these kind of things you'll be learning, you'll even earn your own "We rope for our food" T-shirt that Karen designed.

P.S.: It helps if you already know something about how to ride a horse, but it's not completely necessary. You'll learn. But if I were you, and if you get signed up for the tour, get some riding experience in somewhere and learn how to at least "sit" a saddle and look the part ... wearing a cowboy hat and spurs is optional.

(*) Special note: you must be in good physical condition to go on this trip. This also means you have no physical impairments, including sight and sound, and are able to walk and ride a horse - and gettin' along with folks is a good quality, too.
