TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:
This preferential tour is for those of you who want to visit Arizona's southern
ramparts, Tucson and the surrounding region. You'll find no finer desert to
walk in then this, the high Sonoran desert. Surprisingly, Tucson has nowhere
near the heat that its sister city, Phoenix, has just a 100 or so miles further
north. Plus Tucson is surrounded by rugged mountains that adds to the equally
rugged beauty of the setting. There's much to do and explore on this week long
adventure, including caving in one of the best kept secrets ever discovered
in the underground - Kartchner Caverns.
Here is a day-by-day account of what we have in store for you on this nearly full week's adventure. . .
DAY 01/SUNDAY:
If you're traveling by air, we'll meet you in Tucson at your hotel. Over dinner
we'll discuss the exciting week we have planned for you and make sure you have
everything you need to ensure you the best possible vacation, ever. There is
a regular airport shuttle service available to this choice location or we would
be happy to arrange a limousine transfer for you. Bus and shuttle service from
Phoenix is also available. We recommend flying (or driving) in early so that
you can take in some of the great sights Phoenix or Las Vegas has to offer,
as both locations are the closest to the South Rim.
DAY 02/MONDAY:
Depart Tucson, visit Kartchner Caverns (near Benson), arrive Bisbee (mine tour),
free time for shopping, then dinner, etc.
DAY 03/TUESDAY:
Hike Carr or Ramsey Canyon area (near Sierra Vista), hike in Coronado National
Monument, visit Cactus Preserve in Bisbee, dinner. etc.
DAY 04/WEDNESDAY:
Early morning Sandhill Crane viewing, possible talk by local botanist/naturalist(if
available), drive to Arivaca (via Patagonia and Ruby Road), dinner and lodging
at Casa Bella B&B.
DAY 05/THURSDAY:
Box lunch hike in Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (possible hike in Brown
Canyon, or Arivaca Cienaga), dinner at Casa Bella.
DAY 06/FRIDAY:
Drive to top of Kitt Peak, visit observatory, hike in Saguaro National Park
west, return to Tucson. It's time to begin the journey back to Tucson. We'll
be stopping for yet another great lunch. Later in the day you'll be taken back
to where you started, and your farewell dinner promises to be a great experience
to cap off this exciting week.
HAPPY TRAILS from all of us here at ECOSOUTHWEST.COM and we hope to see your smiling face on this exciting adventure. Contact us (preferably by e-mail) and let us know if you need more information. We're good for it and a whole lot more.
